Description du contenu de l'enseignement

The aim of the course is to provide basics on concepts in chromatin biology and on associated methodologies, particularly functional genomics approaches used to study epigenetic and transcriptional regulations at genome-wide level (e.g. RNAseq, ChIPseq, ATAcseq…). The aim is also to present examples showing how this can be applied in neuroscience for the understanding of main physiological functions (memory, reward, nociception) and neurological and psychiatric disorders (Alzheimer, Huntington, substance use disorders, etc).
A) Lectures on general principles in NeuroEpigenetics. Considering the diverse backgrounds of students recruited through the different neuroscience master programs in Strasbourg, the goal of the proposed lectures will be to provide the fundamental notions that are central to modern neuroepigenetics, and necessary for the understanding of thematic sessions
B) Journal Club sessions 4 sessions will be organized to cover the following themes: i) neuronal physiology/learning & memory, ii) psychiatric disorders, iii) neurodegenerative disorders (HD/SLA), and iv) pain.
C) Practical sessions Put in practice skills & notions acquired during plenary lectures & journal club sessions, with practical examples using real world data.
D) Plenary Lectures getting exposed to most recent advances and approaches in the field with experts

Compétences à acquérir

1/ To acquire knowledge on chromatin biology concepts and state-of-the-art methodological approaches
2/ To learn basics of bioinformatic analysis of omics data through practical sessions.
3/ To understand how chromatin biology concepts and approaches are used to tackle neuroscience questions.
