Description du contenu de l'enseignement

The topics will focus on organic functionalization, characterization and bioapplications (i.e. drug and gene delivery) of different classes of nanoparticles and nanomaterials:
  • organic nanoparticles (i.e. peptides and dendrimers; liposomes; micelles)
  • inorganic nanoparticles (i.e. carbon nanotubes, graphene, 2D materials and metal nanoparticles).
The topics will contain :
  • Introduction and peptide self-assembly
  • Principles in drug delivery
  • Gene delivery
  • Dendrimers
  • Polymers and micelles
  • Liposomes
  • Carbon nanotubes
  • Graphene and 2D materials
  • Gold nanoparticles and quantum dots
  • Iron and silica nanoparticles
  • Critical analysis & discussion of articles

Compétences à acquérir

  • Identify the main differences between organic and inorganic nanoparticles
  • Associate the different nanoparticles to their properties and applications
  • Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of each class of nanoparticles in term of biomedical applications
  • Propose appropriate chemical functionalizations based on the type of nanoparticles
  • Design a multifunctional nanoparticle or nanomaterial for a specific therapeutic and/or diagnostic application.
